Classroom Management
My classroom management is based on my training in the Responsive Classroom approach to discipline. My goal is to create a calm, safe, and orderly classroom while preserving each child’s dignity.
Typical misbehavior is addressed based on one of the three types of logical consequences:
•You Break It, You Fix it (ex: Hurting someone’s feelings, damaging someone else’s property)
•Loss of Privilege (ex: Misusing school property)
•Take a Break (ex: talking to a neighbor during independent work, disrupting instruction)
Depending on the type and frequency of the behavior, students may also complete a “Think About It” reflection sheet.
More significant misbehavior such as, but not limited to, physically harming another student, using inappropriate language, or being excessively disruptive in class will result in an office referral. Parents will be contacted in this instance.
